Cash acceptor or dispenser is not working
Record the device status and check the basics before a technician intervenes.
Identify the equipment
An acceptor receives bills; a dispenser returns bills. Record which device is failing and its model or label. Converted XPT 5 notes identify MEI Talos acceptors and Fujitsu F56 dispensers, but the installed hardware must be confirmed at the lane.
Manager checks
With the lane out of service and under the site's approved cash-handling procedure:
- Record the cash status shown by the kiosk and any visible error code.
- Confirm that the device has power.
- Check that cash cassettes are seated if you are authorized to handle them.
- Confirm that the kiosk door is closed before judging the final operating state.
- Report the lane, device model, error code, and recent refill or service activity.
Fujitsu F56 / F53 / F50: F8 89
In a recorded case, this code cleared after cables and cassettes were seated and the kiosk door was closed. Check those conditions; a persistent code needs further diagnosis.
Technician work
Communication cables, serial-port selection, middleware settings, and component swaps belong in the technician workflow. Match cash devices to the correct lane's middleware computer.
Recovery check
Check Cash Management and set cash levels before a transaction. An authorized operator should verify levels and the approved test result before returning the lane to service.
