Kiosk screen is blank, frozen, or missing the keyboard
Distinguish the display from the computer that runs the lane.
Identify the symptom
Record whether the screen is completely dark, shows a desktop, displays a connection error, or shows NXT Wash but does not respond to touch. Include the lane number.
Why the distinction matters
White Water’s replacement kiosk screens connect directly to the middleware computer. HDMI carries the picture, USB carries touch input, and the screen has its own power connection. Identify which function has stopped working when reporting the issue.
Approved browser
Use a Chromium-based browser, including Google Chrome or Chromium, for NXT Wash. Firefox is not approved.
Staff checks
- Confirm visible power to the display and the labeled lane equipment.
- Record the message before dismissing it.
- Tell support whether another lane still works.
- If the issue is only the missing on-screen keyboard, support can review the accessibility settings below.
Missing on-screen keyboard
The Linux troubleshooting note lists two settings to check: Settings → Accessibility → Typing → Type Assist, and the accessibility option to enable the on-screen keyboard. Ask support to confirm which options apply to this kiosk before changing them.
Technician handoff
Ask support to verify the lane’s middleware computer, screen power, HDMI picture path, USB touch path, and touch-device mapping. Report whether the screen is dark, shows “no signal,” shows a frozen picture, or has a picture with no touch response.
Recovery check
Confirm the NXT Wash screen is visible and touch input operates on the intended screen before reopening the lane.
