TCS2 installation and input reference

Power, Ethernet, inputs and commissioning for TCS2.

Match the controller and manual

The Tunnel Control Station 2 Installation Instructions, Rev 2A covers TunnelWatch 5.0 and higher. Use it for the original TCS2 installation and retained cabinet hardware. Open the complete manual.

Cabinet power and input sensing are different

The cabinet's supply specification is 120 VAC on its own 15 A circuit (page 9). The manual calls for a dedicated ground conductor and requires the main switch and supplying breaker off before wiring. Cabinet work belongs to the qualified installer using the complete wiring diagram.

The 24 VAC reference on page 18 serves input sensing. It is not a supply for tunnel valves or actuators. An external input power source requires the documented jumper change; mixing sources without that change can damage the controller. Use the full model-specific diagram before altering this circuit.

Input identity and observed response

The manual's recommended assignments are:

Input Device Response described during commissioning
1A Pulse switch Indicator alternates while the conveyor runs; the documented interval between activations is at least half a second.
1B Enter switch Indicator stays on for the duration of switch activation.
1C Tire switch Indicator follows the tire's activation of the switch and clears when the tire leaves it.

Assignments are on page 18; test observations and labeling are on page 29. Confirm the actual labels and configuration at the site. Record the input name and indicator state when reporting a fault.

Ethernet and multiple cabinets

The original manual uses Cat5 or Cat6 between the TCS2 network switch and the site network. The primary cabinet is identified by its panel PC. Additional cabinets connect through the primary cabinet's network switch (pages 20–21 and 36).

The manual's X3/non-CDE network example describes the original system. Converted White Water sites use the NXT Wash-to-controller TCP/IP connection on VLAN 120, port 22 of the primary 24-port switch. See the separate NXT Wash tunnel-network guide.

Commissioning and overrides

The manufacturer sequence on pages 25–29 tests the conveyor-control circuit, relays and input detection. Its stated starting conditions include the TunnelWatch computer disconnected from the TCS2 and the conveyor relay overridden OFF for the initial circuit checks. Later steps deliberately run equipment, so follow the entire installer sequence rather than treating individual LED observations as an operating procedure.

The test verifies stop-button behavior, the interlock and conveyor indicators, then returns the conveyor relay override to AUTO. The final stage labels each used input, relay and wire-way position. Preserve those labels in the site's hardware record.

Unitec interface sheet

The TCS2 to Unitec interface sheet concerns Portal TI and Wash Select II hardware. It identifies J17 wash outputs 1–4 and TCS2 inputs 1E–1H. It places J17 on the Portal TI wash-interface board or the Wash Select II CPU board.

This is a separate hardware interface reference. Its text uses both SRC and COM terminology around the common connection, so the installer must reconcile that wording with the terminal diagram and actual board before wiring. It does not replace the NXT Wash TCP/IP connection specification.
