POS and tunnel loader conversion to NXT Wash

Separate the POS peripheral work from the simpler loader handoff.

Before starting

Confirm the mounting kit, cabinet model and shipped switch configuration. Do not factory-reset a preconfigured switch unless the implementation team confirms it is required.

Arrange NXT Wash terminal configuration through White Water IT. Reusing a computer also requires a supported OS/hardware baseline, role assignment and recovery plan.

Scope and preparation — page 1

This procedure reuses an existing terminal with NXT Wash remote configuration. Label its Ethernet run at the rack and have the PAX A35 parameter-download document available. Obtain the current parameter-download instructions from the payments team.

The POS parts list includes the White Water 24-port primary switch, an 8-port PoE switch, PAX A35, Volcora receipt printer, USB A-to-B cable, cash drawer/cable and a USB barcode scanner. Keep authorized access to the old POS available for NXT Wash Support. Arrange remote access through nxtwash.screenconnect.com when needed.

POS sequence — pages 2–3

  1. Identify the terminal's old network run at the rack and move it to the assigned port on the White Water primary switch.
  2. At the POS, install the 8-port PoE switch. Connect the home run and a patch lead to the terminal.
  3. Confirm switch readiness with the installer. Only if initialization is required, use the illustrated 15-second factory reset and wait for restart after the Ethernet lights turn yellow.
  4. Connect the A35 after the switch returns, then download its parameters using the separate parameter guide.
  5. Replace the old receipt printer with the Volcora. Connect USB B at the printer to USB A at the terminal.
  6. Connect the new cash drawer to the back of the receipt printer.
  7. Replace the scanner and connect it to the terminal by USB.
  8. Notify NXT Wash Support that hardware is ready for remote terminal configuration.

POS printer drivers

The POS receipt printer is Volcora. Use the Volcora Support and Download Center, select Receipt Printers, and match the printer model and terminal operating system. See the printer photo and connections.

Loader sequence — page 3

The loader instructions are shorter: move its main Ethernet run to the assigned port on the White Water primary switch, verify the loader is powered on, and notify NXT Wash that it is ready for remote configuration. The POS reader, printer and drawer are not part of the loader setup.

Handoff checklist

For POS, check link lights for the main run, terminal and A35; confirm the A35 is online with parameters downloaded; confirm printer, drawer and scanner connections; and confirm NXT Wash has been notified. Complete remote configuration and agree the transaction test with the implementation team.

Port-number difference

For White Water, the installation overview places the loader on port 20 of the 24-port primary switch. The original POS conversion PDF describes its supplied 16-port example; use White Water’s port map for site connections.

POS connection indicator

Check the POS-to-middleware status: the red Disconnected display below Scanning LP means the app is disconnected. Any other state in the open POS app means it is connected to middleware.

Ubuntu flashing reference

Flash a computer with Ubuntu 24.04 Desktop covers installation media, third-party drivers, erase-disk installation and account recording. It prepares the operating system; role-specific NXT Wash software and backend configuration still follow.
