White Water conversion: preparation & installation

A shared starting point for site teams, IT and leadership as NXT Wash rolls out across White Water.

The installation at a glance

Prepare the site and member data → agree on the work window → stage and test equipment → prepare tablets → convert lanes → move the loader and tunnel controller → confirm connectivity and wash sending with the installer.

White Water IT leads the conversion. Site management coordinates readiness, access and operating windows with the installation team.

Site management Local readiness, access, opening hours, downtime coordination, deliveries and an available on-site contact. Preparation checklist · Cutover coordination
IT / conversion team Onboarding dependencies, network staging, device access, lane conversion, loader/TCS cutover and validation with the installer. Detailed White Water installation playbook · White Water network standard
Leadership Consistent readiness across the chain, ownership of outstanding dependencies, and agreed operating windows for site conversion. Use the preparation and work-window sections below to discuss readiness with IT and site management.

Before the installation team arrives

Prepare What the team needs ready
Merchant and member information Confirm readiness with NXT Wash onboarding. Provide the requested data and additional exports from the previous POS so memberships can cut over smoothly.
Cabling and space Have cables pulled, identified and labeled. Reserve 9U for the current rack layout, including 4U for middleware/Jetsons and the 2U SMART1500LCD UPS; place the power strip behind the middleware/Jetson shelf within the 4U area and confirm clearances. Do not stack equipment; allow adequate airflow and keep the rack top clear. Terminate incoming site network drops with labeled keystone jacks.
Kiosk readiness Clear and tidy each kiosk. Have the installation team check power availability, including the 120 V outlets required in ICS kiosks, and identify shared or daisy-chained cabling early.
Internet details Confirm a minimum of 50 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload. Have White Water IT confirm any existing ISP configuration needed for installation.
Site access and accounts Coordinate tablet accounts, site Wi-Fi and installer access with White Water IT. NXT Wash Wi-Fi names end in -N.
Wash setup Gather Legacy POS System interface codes and functions for packages, extras, commands and tunnel apps. Coordinate wash configuration with the implementation team.
Delivered equipment Check shipment tracking and packing slips. Report missing equipment early so the installer can arrange replacements.

Agree on the work window

Identify the primary on-site decision maker and settle these points before cutover:

  • How much downtime can the site tolerate, and who approves moving to the next lane or stage?
  • What are the opening and closing times? Is after-hours work permitted?
  • If work continues after closing, what access and lock-up arrangements does the team need?
  • Can the tunnel run after hours for testing? Who can explain its startup and shutdown process?

Plan after-hours work when the site has little or no downtime tolerance.

Stage equipment before moving it into the lanes

The installation team inventories the delivery, brings the battery backup, router and primary switch online, then connects the remaining devices at the rack. Middleware computers, Jetsons, cameras, RFID readers, card readers and edge switches are tested before they go to their final positions.

This makes it easier to separate an equipment problem from a problem in the site’s cabling. Keep an on-site contact available and report missing or failed items promptly.

Hover over an equipment name for a picture; select it to open the equipment’s main page. Browse all equipment.

Prepare tablets early

White Water’s tablet is the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5.

Configured tablets can provide kiosk, POS, loader and card-transaction functions without moving existing workstation cables. Have them charged and configured with the installer early in the process so the team has an operating option during cutover.

Convert the kiosks one lane at a time

The conversion includes swapping the kiosk screens. Each replacement screen connects directly to its middleware computer for picture and touch.

The installer moves the lane onto its new switch and connects the middleware, card reader, gate or gate emulator, RFID reader and cameras. Management coordinates the lane closure and the next lane’s work with the installer.

Shared wiring can affect more than one lane. If gates or cameras for several lanes run through one kiosk, plan the resulting downtime with the installation team.

Schedule the loader and tunnel controller cutover

Moving the loader or tunnel controller interrupts the existing operation. Treat these as planned downtime steps and coordinate them with the installer.

Confirm TunnelWatch connectivity and verify wash sending with the installer. Keep the site contact available for that check before the team moves on.

Where the detailed instructions live

The technician guides contain the connection and configuration steps. Use the White Water network standard and 24-port map.

The White Water knowledgebase keeps the familiar XPT, FastPass and gate material together, with NXT Wash companion guidance beside it.
